In 1986 an RBMK nuclear reactor exploded exposing most of the Soviet Union to 400 times the radiation of the nuclear bomb in Hiroshima. With an exclusion zone expanding 1,000 miles; Chernobyl will remain uninhabitable and radioactive for another 20,000 years.
